Maidaan OTT Release: Ajay Devgn’s Biographical Sports Drama Celebrating Indian Football’s Golden Era
Ajay Devgn’s latest release, ‘Maidaan‘ is a biographical sports drama now available on a streaming platform that takes audiences on a journey through the golden era of Indian football in the 1950s and 60s. Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, the film immortalizes the remarkable contribution of coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who dedicated his life to forming a winning team and putting Indian football on the global map.
Devgn delivers a powerful performance as coach Rahim, portraying his restrained yet stirring demeanor with gravitas. The film beautifully showcases Rahim’s character arc, taking viewers through his highs, lows, sacrifices, obstacles, and triumphs. Under Rahim’s mentorship, the Indian Football Team earned the monikers ‘Brazil of Asia’ and ‘Team of comebacks’. It also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, Devyansh Tripathi, Rishab Joshi, Nitanshi Goel, Aayesha Vindhara, Meenal Patel, Rudranil Ghosh, and Baharul Islam.
Maidaan was theatrically the film was released worldwide on 11 April 2024, coinciding with Eid. The film was made on a budget of an estimated ₹235 crore, despite a positive critical reception, the film bombed at the box office grossing ₹67 crore worldwide.
The biographical film is now available for streaming on May 22, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video in Hindi audio along with English subtitles. But to watch the film, you need to pay Rs. 349 as a rental fee. The rent-free option is expected after two weeks.
