Storyline:
The film is set in a fictional village called Muthalakotta. The rustic serenity of the place is rattled by the arrival of Neyyattinkara Gopan, who is a rare mix of bravado and comic extravagance. The very purpose of his coming to the village undermines what the people there stand for. But their resistance withers layer by layer as Gopan weaves his spell on them.
About Aaraattu Movie:
- The title of the film was announced in November 2020. Principal photography of the film began in November 2020 in Palakkad district and was completed in late March 2021.
- The film marks the first collaboration between B. Unnikrishnan and Udaykrishna.
- Originally The film was scheduled for 20 August 2021, the premiere was postponed due to the closure of theatres in Kerala because of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. Then, the film’s release date was pushed to 13 October 2021, but it was again postponed due to the same reason. It was then moved to 10 February 2022, but delayed again.
- Aaraattu was released theatrically on February 18, 2022, by RD Illuminations. The film received mixed from critics.
