Storyline:
Young Sohee (Kim Si-eun) is a bubbly, tenacious high-school student with a fiery temperament living in rural Korea. She has chosen a labor-market-oriented education and entered a paid employment program with high hopes. Her school motivates her to sign a contract with a call center that abuses its trainees with the promise of non-existent bonuses, pushing them to use highly unfair techniques. Sohee is constantly yelled at, even receiving threats and obscenities, but when her overworked supervisor takes his own life, she begins a psychological descent that will lead her to commit an irreparable act. Detective Yoo-jin (Bae Doona) is in charge of the investigation. Impassive, temperamental, and unwilling to follow orders, what she discovers about the events that led to Sohee’s suicide eventually gets to her. Her crusade against all those who get rich off vulnerable teenage girls becomes personal.

Next Sohee (Korean: 다음 소희; RR: Daeum sohui) is a South Korean drama film, directed by Jung Ju-ri and starring Bae Doona and Kim Si-eun.
The film is loosely inspired by the real-life suicide of a girl on a similar temporary training program.
Next Sohee is Jung’s second film, following the 2014 detective drama A Girl at My Door, which also starred Bae Doona.
Principal photography began on January 16, 2022, and filming wrapped on February 28, 2022.
Next Sohee was screened on May 25, 2022, at Espace Miramar in Cannes and received a 7-minute standing ovation. The film was also screened at the 26th Fantasia International Film Festival as the closing film and won the Best Director award in the Cheval Noir competition category and the Best Asian Feature silver award in the Audience Award category.
Next Sohee was released on February 8, 2023, in South Korea. The film was made available for streaming on IPTV (KT olleh TV, SK Btv, LG U+ TV), Home Choice, Google Play, satellite TV (Skylife), WAVVE, Naver Series ON, Google Play, Cinefox, Watcha Play, and Webhard from March 16, 2023.
