Brother is a Tamil comedy-drama film written and directed by M. Rajesh and starring Jayam Ravi and Priyanka Mohan in the lead roles. The film also stars Bhumika Chawla, Saranya Ponvannan, Natarajan Subramaniam, Rao Ramesh, VTV Ganesh, and Sathish Krishnan.
Produced by Sundar Arumugam under the banner of Screen Scene Media Entertainment, the film has music composed by Harris Jayaraj, cinematography handled by Vivekanand Santhosham, and editing by Abisish Joseph.
The film was officially announced on 5 August 2022 under the tentative title JR30, as it is Ravi’s 30th film in the lead role, and the official title was announced on 18 September 2023. Principal photography commenced on 5 August 2022 and was predominantly shot in Chennai. The final schedule commenced in early September 2023.
Brother was released in theaters worldwide on October 31, 2024, coinciding with Diwali, and it faced competition from Amaran and Bloody Beggar. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, with criticism directed at its screenplay and writing, although Jayam Ravi’s performance was praised.
The post-theatrical satellite and streaming rights for the film were acquired by Zee Tamil and ZEE5.
