The Box Man ( 箱男) is a Japanese drama film directed by Gakuryû Ishii and written by Kôbô Abe, and Kiyotaka Inagaki. It stars Masatoshi Nagase, Tadanobu Asano, Kôichi Satô.
The film is an adaptation of the 1973 eponymous novel by Japanese author Kōbō Abe.
Filming began in the summer of 2023 in Japan.
The Box Man was selected in the Berlinale Special at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on February 17, 2024. The film was released theatrically on August 23, 2024.
