Storyline:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a fantasy adventure film, based on the 1999 novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. It is the sequel to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) and the third installment in the Harry Potter film series.
The film was directed by Alfonso Cuarón from a screenplay by Steve Kloves. It stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry’s best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger respectively.
his movie was offered to Guillermo del Toro, but he chose to direct Hellboy (2004) instead. Del Toro, a good friend of director Alfonso Cuarón, passionately encouraged Cuarón to accept the role of director when he learned that Cuarón had been offered the job. Alfonso Cuarón had never read the Harry Potter novels, nor seen the first two movies when he was offered the job of director. Guillermo del Toro convinced him, saying, “Don’t be stupid; read them immediately.
Principal photography of the film began on February 24, 2003, at Leavesden Film Studios and wrapped in late November 2003. It was the first in the series to extensively use real-life locations, with sets built in Scotland and scenes shot in London.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released on May 31, 2004, in the United Kingdom, and on June 4, 2004, in North America. It was the first Harry Potter film to use IMAX Technology and was released into IMAX theatres. Critics praised Cuarón’s direction and the lead actors’ performances.
Prisoner of Azkaban grossed a total of $798 million worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2004, behind Shrek 2. was nominated for two Academy Awards, Best Original Music Score and Best Visual Effects, at the 77th Academy Awards in 2004. It was followed by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005.
The film was released on DVD and on VHS on 23 November 2004. The 2-disc Special Editions later came out on DVD and Blu-ray on 4 October 2016. The film was also released on Ultra HD Blu-ray on 7 November 2017.
