About Toy Story 4 Movie:
Toy Story 4 is an American animated adventure comedy film directed by Josh Cooley. It is the fourth installment in Pixar’s Toy Story series and the sequel to Toy Story 3 (2010). Produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures, the film’s music is composed by Randy Newman.
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Jeff Pidgeon, Laurie Metcalf, John Morris, Joan Cusack, Estelle Harris, Blake Clark, Bonnie Hunt, Jeff Garlin, Kristen Schaal, Timothy Dalton, and Lori Alan reprise their character roles from the first three films
Development of Toy Story 4 began shortly before the release of Toy Story 3 in 2010. The film was officially announced in November 2014 during an investor’s call, initially with John Lasseter set to direct. Lasseter later stepped down, leaving Josh Cooley as the sole director. New characters and cast members were announced in 2018 and 2019.
This film marked John Lasseter’s final involvement with Pixar Animation Studios before he exited the Disney company as chief creative officer.
The animators studied multiple makes and models of anamorphic lenses to create the film’s look, ultimately settling on those made by Cooke Optics. They were so successful at replicating the quality and character of these lenses that, when engineers working for Cooke saw the film, they recognized the look of their lenses immediately.
The ninth Pixar film to be scored by Randy Newman, after Toy Story (1995), A Bug’s Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Monsters, Inc. (2001), Cars (2006), Toy Story 3 (2010), Monsters University (2013), and Cars 3 (2017).
The first trailer was released on March 19, 2019. It received 62 million online views within the first 24 hours.
Toy Story 4 premiered in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on June 11, 2019, and was released in the United States on June 21. The film received acclaim from critics, with praise for its story, humor, emotional depth, musical score, animation, and vocal performances.
The film grossed $1.073 billion worldwide, becoming the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2019, and is the highest-grossing film in the franchise, marginally surpassing Toy Story 3.
Toy Story 4 grossed $434 million in the United States and Canada, and $639.4 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1.073 billion.
Toy Story 4 was nominated for two awards at the 92nd Academy Awards, winning Best Animated Feature, and received numerous other accolades. This is Pixar’s first film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature since Coco (2017), as well as Pixar’s first film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature without winning the Golden Globe, Annie, or BAFTA Awards for Best Animated Feature.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released Toy Story 4 for digital download on October 1, 2019, and on Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 8.
