Storyline:

Years after Adonis Creed made a name for himself under Rocky Balboa’s mentorship, the young boxer becomes the Heavyweight Champion of the World. While life is good with that victory and his marriage to Bianca, trouble comes to Philadelphia when Ivan Drago, the Russian boxer who killed Adonis’ father, Apollo, arrives with his son, Viktor, to challenge Adonis. Against Rocky’s advice, Adonis accepts the challenge without his mentor’s participation and pays the price in a punishing bout he wins only by a technicality. Now injured and demoralized, Adonis cannot bring himself to back into the game, leaving his spirit and title in jeopardy. Together, Adonis’ family and Rocky must find a way to rekindle Adonis’ fighting spirit to face the future in whatever choice he makes. Meanwhile, the Drago family have its own troubles trying to regain the respect in their homeland that they lost at Rocky’s hands as they wonder whether is it truly worth it.

About Movie:

Creed II is an American sports drama directed by Steven Caple Jr., with a screenplay by Juel Taylor and Sylvester Stallone. It is the sequel to Creed (2015) and the eighth film in the Rocky series. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Phylicia Rashad, Florian Munteanu, and Dolph Lundgren.

Development for a Creed sequel began in January 2016 but was delayed due to scheduling conflicts with Black Panther (2018), involving both director Ryan Coogler and Jordan.

Initially, Stallone was set to direct after completing the screenplay in 2017. However, Steven Caple Jr. took over as director in December, with Coogler stepping in as an executive producer. The return of cast members, including Thompson, Rashad, and Lundgren, was confirmed by March 2018.

Principal photography commenced in March 2018 in Philadelphia, specifically in the Port Richmond neighborhood, and wrapped on June 7, 2018. Additional scenes were filmed at Arcadia University’s Grey Towers Castle in Glenside, Pennsylvania, and Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.

The visual effects were handled by Zero VFX and Mr. X, supervised by Eric Robinson, Dan Cayer, and Crystal Dowd, with assistance from Crafty Apes.

Creed II premiered on November 14, 2018, at the Lincoln Center in New York City and was released on November 21 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Warner Bros. Pictures. The film received positive reviews for its performances, particularly from Stallone, Jordan, and Lundgren, as well as its character development and Caple’s direction, though its predictability was noted. It was a box office hit, grossing $214 million worldwide.

The sequel, Creed III, was released on March 3, 2023, and marked Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut.
