Storyline:

After total humiliation at her thirteenth birthday party, Jenna Rink wants to just hide until she’s thirty. Thanks to some magic wishing dust, Jenna’s prayer has been answered. With a knockout body, a dream apartment, a fabulous wardrobe, an athlete boyfriend, a dream job, and superstar friends, this can’t be a better life. Unfortunately, Jenna realizes that this is not what she wanted. The only one that she needs is her childhood best friend, Matt, a boy that she thought destroyed her party. But when she finds him, he’s a grown up, and not the same person that she knew.

About Movie:

13 Going on 30 (titled Suddenly 30 in some countries) is a 2004 American fantasy romantic comedy directed by Gary Winick and written by Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith. The film stars Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, and was produced by Susan Arnold and Donna Arkoff Roth.

Director Gary Winick entered negotiations to helm the film in October 2002, with Susan Arnold, Donna Arkoff Roth, and Gina Matthews attached as producers. Filming began in May 2003 in Los Angeles and included locations in New York City and South Pasadena, California.

The shoot lasted from May to November 2003, with interior shots filmed in L.A. and 17 days of exterior scenes in New York City. Niels Mueller provided a final polish on the screenplay, though he lost a writing credit after arbitration by the Writers Guild of America.

Christa B. Allen, who played the 13-year-old version of Jenna, later portrayed a younger version of Jennifer Garner’s character in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. In 2016, plans to adapt 13 Going on 30 for Broadway were announced, but the project did not move forward.

Upon its release, the film received positive reviews for Garner’s performance, its nostalgic charm, humor, and empowering message. It earned $22 million in its opening week and went on to gross over $96 million globally. The DVD became one of the best-selling titles of 2004, and the soundtrack charted in the top 50 of the Billboard 200. Garner’s role earned her nominations at both the MTV Movie Awards and the Teen Choice Awards.
