Storyline:

The narrative follows IPS Officer Mithran, who is determined to arrest Siddharth Abhimanyu, a wealthy scientist involved in illegal medical practices for profit. Mithran’s quest for justice leads him to uncover a network of corruption involving influential figures in the pharmaceutical industry. Thani Oruvan is a Tamil action thriller film directed by Mohan Raja, who co-wrote the script with Suresh and Balakrishnan. The film stars Jayam Ravi as IPS Officer Mithran and Arvind Swamy as the antagonist Siddharth Abhimanyu, along with Nayanthara and a supporting cast that includes Thambi Ramaiah, Ganesh Venkataraman, and Nassar.

Thani Oruvan received critical acclaim upon its release, praised for its direction, screenplay, engaging storyline, and performances—especially that of Arvind Swamy as the antagonist. The film was a commercial success, grossing over ₹105 crores at the box office and becoming one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2015.

The film was remade in Telugu as Dhruva (2016) and in Bengali as One (2017). Following its success, Mohan Raja announced a sequel titled Thani Oruvan 2, which will reunite him with Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara.
