Storyline:

Turo (25) is trying to overcome his fears by leading the most unknown heavy metal band in Finland, Impaled Rektum, to the hottest metal festival of Norway. The journey includes heavy metal, grave robbing, Viking heaven and an armed conflict between Finland and Norway.

About Movie:

The film was initially titled Impaled Rektum, later changed to A Band Called Impaled Rektum, before finally being named Heavy Trip.

The movie is filled with nods to the band Megadeth, especially in the character Lotvonen, who is styled after Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. Lotvonen’s hair resembles Mustaine’s 80s-90s look, and he plays the same guitar used by Mustaine in the early 90s. He also works in a slaughterhouse and wears a Megadeth Killing Is My Business t-shirt. In one scene, as the drummer breaks into the police station, the background music features chords from Megadeth’s Hangar 18, a song about breaking into a restricted government facility.

In a June 2022 interview with Metal Hammer, director Juuso Laatio confirmed that the script for a Heavy Trip sequel was completed, with filming set to start in summer 2023.

The Norwegian border patrol’s rocket launcher in the film is the same model used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando (1985).

Heavy Trip shares some plot similarities with the 2013 French movie Pop Redemption, though with some distinct twists.
