A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

About Series:

In January 2021, HBO announced the development of a new Game of Thrones prequel series, based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, which follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and a young Aegon V Targaryen, known as Egg. The story takes place 90 years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Steven Conrad was reportedly hired as a writer in November 2021. By April 2023, HBO had officially ordered the series, with Ira Parker, a writer from House of the Dragon, penning the pilot script.

Casting began in October 2023, and filming took place from June to September 2024 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. On August 4, 2024, HBO released the first preview of the series.

The first season, consisting of six episodes, is set to premiere on HBO and Max on June 15, 2025.
