Storyline:

An ex-special forces operative suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), who — in his bid for redemption as a security guard, attempts to save the life of a woman who is being hunted by a corrupt police death squad working for a drug cartel.

About Movie:

Topakk was produced by Nathan Studios in collaboration with Fusee, Strawdogs Studio Production, and Toronto-based Theo & Atlas Productions, directed by Strawdogs’ Richard V. Somes.

Julia Montes began immersion training for the film as early as September 2022. Cornerstone Entertainment announced the project on social media.

In 2022, Raven Banner Entertainment, based in Canada, became Topakk‘s global distributor. The film went on sale at the European Film Market, held alongside the Berlin International Film Festival, for industry professionals. It was also recognized at Cannes’ Marché du Film as the first Filipino film in the fantastic pavilion genre category.

After its gala screening at the Olympia Theater on May 19, Topakk secured distribution with Lighthouse (German-speaking territories), Aud (South Korea), Superfine Films (India), and Kinologistika (CIS and the Baltics).

The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival on August 9, 2023, in Switzerland and is set for a Philippine theatrical release on December 25, 2024, as part of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.
