About Movie:
In June 2021, Amblin Partners signed a deal with Netflix to produce multiple films annually for the streaming platform. Carry-On was initially planned as the first project under this agreement. The screenplay’s first draft was penned by former Insomniac Games writer T. J. Fixman, with Michael Green contributing an additional draft. Ultimately, Fixman received sole screenplay credit, while Green was acknowledged with an “Additional Literary Material” credit.
In July 2022, Taron Egerton was announced as the lead, playing Ethan Kopek. Jason Bateman joined in August 2022 as the mysterious traveler co-starring alongside Egerton. Sofia Carson and Danielle Deadwyler were cast in September 2022, followed by Theo Rossi in October 2022. Later that month, Dean Norris, Logan Marshall-Green, Sinqua Walls, and five others were added to the ensemble. Notably, Norris and Marshall-Green had previously worked together on the TV series Dark Blue.
With a budget estimated at $47 million, principal photography occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana, from September 2022 to January 2023.
Carry-On is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 13, 2024.
