Storyline:
Parari tells the story of two neighbouring Tamil Nadu villages locked in a feud over a hill with deep symbolic meaning. Maran, from a lower caste, faces hostility from Jai Kumar, who also interferes with his relationship with Devaki. Forced to work in a nearby city, Maran and Jai Kumar must join forces to confront political manipulation and violence, questioning if unity can overcome division.
About Movie:
On 23 November 2023, Lokesh Kanagaraj announced Parari, a film directed by debutant Ezhil Periyavedi, who previously worked as an assistant to director Raju Murugan. The film stars Harishankar, known for Thozhar Venkatesan (2019), in the lead role. Harishankar also serves as the producer under his banner Kala Films Private Limited. The cast includes newcomer Sangeetha Kalyan as the female lead, alongside Guru Rajendran, Samrat Suresh, Pugazh Mahendran, V. Bremnath, and others, all of whom underwent six months of acting training at brick kilns and juice factories.
The technical team features music composer Sean Roldan, cinematographer Sridhar, and editor Sam RDX. Principal photography took place in Bengaluru, Krishnagiri, and villages around Tiruvannamalai, completed in a single 45-day schedule.
Parari was released in theatres on 22 November 2024 and has received a U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. The film earned a bronze medal in the Best Foreign Film category at the 57th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
