About Movie:
The film features an all-female cast, with the only exception being a male actor who plays the grandfather in a photo.
The entire film consists of just 82 cuts.
Filming was completed on a tight schedule of only 19 days.
The Secret of Pin-Up Island marks the first collaboration between director Alecs Nastoiu and actress Rina Gri.
The script, written in 2017, unexpectedly included elements such as masks and viruses, which later became a part of everyone’s reality, offering an uncanny glimpse into what the world would soon experience.
Rina Gri, who was just starting to learn English when filming began, trained intensively with American English teacher and musician Matthew Smith. She memorized 60 pages of dialogue before the first day of shooting.
This film marks the debut project for the makeup artist, costume designer, and hairstylist involved in the production.
The name “Guybrush,” given to the toy guardian in the “museum scene,” is a direct homage to the main character from the Monkey Island video game series.
In the “hairdresser scene,” the walls are decorated with childhood photos of actress Rina Gri, editor Bogdan Orcula, and director Alecs Nastoiu. There are also family pictures of the director and a poster of his debut feature film, Billion Star Hotel.
In the film, Alesia confronts her loneliness and mourns the loss of her sister. Tragically, during post-production, actress Rina Gri experienced the loss of her own sister. The film is dedicated to Lisa Grishina in her memory.
