Storyline:
The film is set in the early 80’s and 90’s in Gujarat. The fictitious story of a man who builds an empire in the state of Gujarat, the only state that still follows prohibition. It’s a story about his rise and his relationships, which help him become the single most powerful man in the state.—RedChillies

About Raees Movie:
Raees is said to be based on the criminal Abdul Latif’s life, however, the filmmakers have denied this.
The shooting of the film began in April 2015. The film has been shot in Mumbai, and sets were re-designed to depict Ahmedabad slums. The last schedule of the film was shot in Gujarat in January 2016.
Despite protests, the film was shot in Bhuj without disruptions between January and February 2016. There was a clearance issue by the Archaeological Survey of India for shooting at Ahmedabad at the medieval mosque and tomb complex, Sarkhej Roza.
Raees was released on 25 January 2017 during India’s Republic Day weekend. It received overall positive reviews from the critics, who appreciated the performances of Khan and Siddiqui, production design, cinematography and visual effects, and was a huge success at the box office, becoming the 6th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2017 Raees was also the most pirated Hindi film of 2017 but it started trending in 2023 in Netflix after 6 years of release. The film’s soundtrack has also received over 160 crore (1.6 billion) streams on YouTube.
The film received five nominations at the 63rd Filmfare Awards, including Best Actor for Khan.
It became the 47th highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
