Pushpa 2: The Rule is an upcoming Telugu action drama film directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, jointly with Sukumar Writings. The film stars Allu Arjun in titular role, alongside Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna reprising their roles. It is the second installment in the Pushpa film series and is a sequel to Pushpa: The Rise.

In May 2021, the makers of the film Pushpa announced that the film would be released in two parts, with the second installment coming out in 2022.

About 10% of the shooting had already been completed before the release of the first part. However, due to the success of the film K.G.F: Chapter 2, there were rumors that it had the same storyline as “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” Therefore, director Sukumar decided to rewrite and reshoot the entire second part to make sure that the audience gets a unique experience.

Sukumar confirmed that the stories were not the same, but he wanted to fulfill the audience’s anticipation and correct previous mistakes.

At the end of the first part of the film, the title was revealed to be “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” The second part of the film was officially launched with a traditional pooja ceremony in Hyderabad in August 2022.

Even though a few scenes of Pushpa 2 were already filmed prior to the release of the first part, Sukumar stated that he altered the story a bit and that he was going to reshoot the entire film.

Principal photography for the film began in October 2022. Made on a budget of ₹500 crore, Pushpa 2: The Rule stands as one of the most expensive Indian films to date.

The first-look poster along with an announcement glimpse video was released on 8 April 2023, coinciding with Allu Arjun’s 41st birthday. The film’s teaser was released a year later on 8 April 2024, coinciding with Allu Arjun’s 42nd birthday.

Pushpa 2: The Rule will be theatrically released on August 15, 2024. The digital distribution rights of the film were acquired by Netflix.
