About Movie:
In 2023, Vice Ganda was set to collaborate with The IdeaFirst Company for a project initially scheduled for the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival but was postponed due to scheduling conflicts. In early 2024, he hinted at a new collaboration with acclaimed director Jun Lana during the anniversary celebration of co-actors Gladys Reyes and Cristopher Roxas.
Vice Ganda expressed his admiration for Lana, noting it as an honor to work with a director he has long respected. Lana, known for his award-winning films Barber’s Tales (2013), Die Beautiful (2016), Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes (2018), and About Us But Not About Us (2022), brings his distinctive storytelling to this new project.
A co-production between Star Cinema and The IdeaFirst Company, this film marks the first collaboration between the two studios and Vice Ganda’s second film without Viva Films, following The Super Parental Guardians. It also marks his return to the big screen after a two-year hiatus.
On July 16, 2024, the film was announced as one of the five initial entries for the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, with additional cast members including Eugene Domingo and Gina Pareño.
Filming began on June 27, 2024, in Metro Manila, and continued with scenes shot in Taiwan on August 13, 2024.
And the Breadwinner Is… will be released theatrically on December 25, 2024, as part of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.
