Storyline:

In the film, a large family returns to their hometown to sell their ancestral property (palace). However, their arrival is marred by supernatural events, and Ravi, a relative of the family, decides to uncover the truth.

About Aranmanai Movie:

Aranmanai is a Tamil comedy horror drama film written and directed by Sundar C and produced by D. Dinesh Karthick. The film stars Sundar, Hansika Motwani, Vinay Rai, Andrea Jeremiah, Raai Laxmi, Santhanam, Kovai Sarala, Manobala, Chitra Lakshmanan and Nithin Sathya.

It was the first installment in the Aranmanai film series.

Hansika Motwani confirmed in September 2013 that she had signed the film. Filming began on September 28, 2013, in Pollachi. The film largely takes place in a palace, with a set created by Mohan Babu in Hyderabad being used. ₹2 crore was spent on renovating the palace, where 70 percent of the film was shot. Filming was completed in mid-2014.

Aranmanai was released on September 19, 2014, to mostly positive reviews from critics and grossed ₹22 at the box office and became a commercial success and one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year.

Due to its success, an installment titled Aranmanai 2, with most of the cast from the first film, was released on January 29, 2016. The movie was loosely based on the 1978 movie Aayiram Jenmangal.

Aranmanai had an excellent opening, grossing ₹2.60 crore on its first day in Tamil Nadu and ₹7.55 crore on its opening weekend. In Chennai, it collected ₹89.48 lakh in the first weekend. After one week, the film’s collection was estimated at ₹11.5 crore. Sify reported a gross of around ₹18 crore in two weeks in Tamil Nadu and estimated a total gross of ₹22 crore.

The second installment, titled Aranmanai 2, was released on January 29, 2016. The third installment, titled Aranmanai 3, was released on October 14, 2021. The fourth installment, titled Aranmanai 4, was released on May 3, 2024.

Initially, actress Tamannaah Bhatia was announced to play the lead role in Aranmanai. However, she was later replaced by Hansika Motwani.
