Storyline:
“Because I Hate Korea” is the story of Gye Na, a woman in her late 20s, who leaves her job, family, and boyfriend to move to New Zealand in search of happiness.

Because I Hate Korea (Korean: 한국이 싫어서) is a South Korean drama film directed by Jang Kun-jae and produced by Youn Hee-young.
The film is based on a novel of the same name by Chang Kang-myoung. It stars Go Ah-sung, Joo Jong-hyuk and Kim Woo-gyeom.
Principal photography started on July 29, 2022. Filming continued in New Zealand in January 2023 after delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Showbox acquired the international sales rights for the film in January 2023.
Because I Hate Korea premiered as the opening film at the 28th Busan International Film Festival on October 4, 2023. It was released theatrically in South Korea on August 28, 2024.
