She attended two private bilingual schools, Edron Academy and the American School Foundation, both located in Mexico City. She completed two years of a three-year course at Televisa’s acting school, Centro de Educación Artística, before she was cast as the protagonist in the 2007 teen-oriented telenovela Lola…Érase una vez at the age of 16. She is fluent in Spanish, English and Italian.
Eiza González Career:
Eiza González studied acting between 2003 and 2004 at the M&M Studio in Mexico City, run by actress Patricia Reyes Spíndola. At 14, she was admitted to Televisa’s Centro de Educación Artística, where she was discovered by producer Pedro Damián. Two years later, Damián cast González in the lead role of Lola Valente in the remake of Argentina’s telenovela “Floricienta,” titled “Lola, érase una vez.” The show premiered in Mexico in February 2007 and gained popularity across Latin America and the United States. After the series, González briefly moved to New York City in 2008 to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for three months before returning to Mexico City later that year.
In April 2009, Eiza González was cast in an episode of the crime drama series “Mujeres Asesinas,” where she played the supporting character Gaby alongside Mexican actress Susana González. This was followed by her role in the teen sitcom “Sueña conmigo,” where she portrayed Clara Molina and Roxy Pop. González filmed the series in Buenos Aires from April 2010 to February 2011, and it aired in July 2010, gaining success in Argentina with subsequent concert performances by the cast.
In 2012, González made her cinema debut in the comedy-drama “Casi 30,” playing Cristina, an 18-year-old ballet student. The film premiered in Mexico in 2013 and nationwide in 2014. Additionally, she starred in the Televisa series “Amores verdaderos,” a remake of the TV Azteca series “Amor en custodia,” which premiered in September 2012. Despite being offered the lead role in “Gossip Girl: Acapulco,” González declined due to her busy schedule with “Amores verdaderos.”
In late August 2013, Eiza González relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. In September of the same year, she was cast in director Adrian Cervantes’ film “All Hail the Squash Blossom Queen,” initially slated to star Bonnie Wright. González was expected to play the role of Brittany, but she was later replaced when the role was recast in 2015.
In November 2013, González was announced as a cast member in producer Robert Rodriguez’s television series “From Dusk till Dawn: The Series,” where she portrayed Santanico Pandemonium. This marked González’s first English-speaking role, and she featured prominently in print advertisements for the series. The show premiered on Rodriguez’s El Rey network and later became available for streaming internationally on Netflix. It was renewed for a second season in March 2014.
In August 2014, González hosted the MTV Millennial Awards in Mexico City. She returned to Austin, Texas, with the cast of “From Dusk till Dawn: The Series” in March 2015 to film the show’s second season.
Since 2015, González has landed notable roles in several films, including “Baby Driver,” “Hobbs & Shaw,” “Alita: Battle Angel,” “I Care a Lot,” “Bloodshot,” and “Godzilla vs. Kong.” In 2023, she appeared in the Apple TV+ series “Extrapolations.” Throughout her career, González has demonstrated her versatility as an actress across various genres and platforms.
González was cast in the Netflix series adaptation of The Three-Body Problem by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss., and will star opposite Henry Cavill in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare directed by Guy Ritchie.
