Saldaña has the distinction of starring in four of the highest-grossing films of all time: Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Her films have collectively grossed over $15 billion globally, making her the second highest-grossing film actress as of 2024. In 2023, she was honored as one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world.

Saldaña’s journey in the entertainment industry began with a background in dance, leading to her first acting roles in 1999 with appearances in Law & Order. She made her film debut in Center Stage (2000), portraying a ballet dancer. Her early work included a notable role in Crossroads (2002) alongside Britney Spears. Saldaña’s career reached new heights in 2009 when she took on iconic roles as Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek film series and Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar series. She further expanded her influence by playing Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a role she held from Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) through Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023).

Beyond her franchise work, Saldaña has demonstrated her versatility in various genres. In 2022, she starred in the Netflix productions The Adam Project and From Scratch. She continued to showcase her range in 2023 with her lead role in the Paramount+ spy series Special Ops: Lioness.
