Storyline:
Vasanth and Aaranya, a young couple, move into a serene row house, eager for peace and privacy. However, after a violent storm leaves them trapped inside, unsettling forces begin to unravel their marriage. Vasanth must uncover the truth behind these supernatural occurrences before everything falls apart.
About Movie:
On August 29, 2024, Potential Studios announced their thriller project Black, directed by debutant KG Balasubramani, through a first-look poster featuring Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar. The film marks their second collaboration after Kalathil Santhippom (2021).
The first look confirmed a September release, with Jiiva returning after his 2022 film Varalaru Mukkiyam. The supporting cast includes Sha Ra, Vivek Prasanna, Yog Japee, and Swayam Siddha. Principal photography was conducted in Chennai.
The technical team featured music composer Sam C.S., editor Philomin Raj, cinematographer Gokul Benoy, art director Sathees Kumar, and stunt choreographer Metro Mahesh. Madhan Karky and Chandru handled lyrics, while Sherif managed choreography.
At a pre-release event, the makers revealed that Black is an official remake of a Hollywood sci-fi thriller, later confirmed to be inspired by the 2013 psychological thriller Coherence.
The film was released on October 11, 2024, during Ayudha Puja, with a U/A certification from the CBFC and a runtime of 118 minutes. Its digital streaming rights were acquired by Amazon Prime Video, and satellite rights were sold to Star Vijay. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 1, 2024, coinciding with Diwali.
