Storyline:

The film’s theme is based on cybercrime and e-commerce scams which it revolve around, army officer Chandru who decides to take them down and put an end to their crimes.

About Chakra Movie:

Chakra is a Tamil action crime thriller film written and directed by M. S. Anandan in his directorial debut. The film stars Vishal (who also produced the film), Shraddha Srinath, and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles.

Originally speculated as a sequel to Vishal’s successful 2018 action thriller film Irumbu Thirai. The film was initially thought to be titled Irumbu Thirai 2 due to its similar genre. However, it was later titled Chakra by the filmmakers. The film was perceived as an unofficial stand-alone sequel to Irumbu Thirai (2018) due to the similar theme and ending between the two films.

Veteran actress K. R. Vijaya made a comeback in this film after a three-year sabbatical. For their roles, Shraddha Srinath trained in martial arts, while Regina Cassandra underwent motorcycle riding training.

Chakra was released theatrically on February 19, 2021, and received mixed reviews. Made on a budget of ₹31.5 crore, Chakra collected ₹65 crore in its theatrical run. The film was a moderate success, despite reportedly incurring a loss of ₹3.5 crore.

The Madras High Court issued a temporary stay order preventing the film’s release due to copyright claims. Trident Arts Studio initially approached to produce the film and filed a complaint stating that the director had initially narrated the story to them. Trident Arts’ producer, Ravi, had entered into a contract with the director Anandan, but the production was later transferred to Vishal Film Factory without their consent. Additionally, the court urged Vishal to compensate Trident Arts for losses incurred from his previous film, Action. The dispute was resolved just days before the film’s release.
