Storyline:

Reluctantly, 17-year-old Gretchen leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved into a resort in the German Alps with his new family. Arriving at their future residence, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father’s boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. Something doesn’t seem right in this tranquil vacation paradise. Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also concerns her own family.

Cuckoo is a horror mystery thriller film written and directed by Tilman Singer and starring Hunter Schafer, Dan Stevens, Jessica Henwick, Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csokas, and Greta Fernández.

Principal photography of the film took place in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany over a span of 35 days from May and July 2022, and was shot on 35mm film.

Cuckoo had its world premiere at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 16, 2024, and was released in Germany on July 18, 2024, and in the United States by Neon on August 9, 2024.
