About Movie:
Darpan Chhaya (Nepali: दर्पण छायाँ) is a Nepalese romantic drama film written and directed by Tulsi Ghimire. The film, produced by Shrawan Ghimire under the banner of Siddhanta Films, features an ensemble cast that includes Dilip Rayamajhi, Uttam Pradhan, and Niruta Singh in lead roles, along with supporting performances from Laxmi Giri, Tika Pahari, and Jeetu Nepal.
Darpan Chhaya received extremely positive reviews from both critics and audiences, particularly for its music, screenplay, and the performances of the three main leads. The film became a historic success at the box office, breaking all previous records and becoming the highest-grossing Nepali film of all time at that point, surpassing the 16-year-old record held by Kusume Rumal. It remained the highest-grossing film until it was eventually surpassed by Hami Tin Bhai in 2004.
The film is often regarded as a cult classic and is considered one of the greatest movies ever made in Nepali cinema. Its soundtrack features popular songs, especially “Lahana Le Jurayo Ki,” which continues to be a favorite at Nepali functions and celebrations.
In 2017, a sequel titled Darpan Chhaya 2 was released, directed again by Tulsi Ghimire. However, it received largely negative reviews compared to its predecessor.
