About Movie:

Dhadkan, translated as “Heartbeat,” is a Hindi musical romantic drama directed by Dharmesh Darshan and produced by Ratan Jain. The film features Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, Suniel Shetty, and Mahima Chaudhry in lead roles, with notable supporting performances from Sharmila Tagore, Parmeet Sethi, Kiran Kumar, Sushma Seth, and Manjeet Kullar. The narrative draws inspiration from the classic novel Wuthering Heights, focusing on the love story of Anjali and Dev, who wish to marry but are separated when Anjali’s family forces her to marry Ram. Years later, Dev returns to rekindle his relationship with Anjali, who has developed feelings for Ram. The film’s music was composed by the duo Nadeem–Shravan.

After facing delays for nearly four years, Dhadkan was released on August 11, 2000, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend. It received positive reviews from critics and became a commercial success, grossing ₹26 crore worldwide. The soundtrack was particularly popular, ranking as the second best-selling album of the year, just behind Mohabbatein. Over time, the film has achieved cult status, garnering a dedicated fanbase.

At the 46th Filmfare Awards, Dhadkan received eight nominations, including Best Film, Best Director for Dharmesh Darshan, Best Supporting Actress for Mahima Chaudhry, and Best Music Director for Nadeem–Shravan, winning two awards: Best Villain for Suniel Shetty and Best Female Playback Singer for Alka Yagnik for the song “Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se.”
