Storyline:
Dhai Aakhar set in the 1980s is based on the novel – Teerthatan Ke Baad by Amrik Singh Deep and tells the story of a woman who rebuilds herself after years of being in an abusive marriage when she starts talking to an empathetic writer through letters. Unlike most women’s fate, the protagonist of this film, Harshita gets a second chance after the death of her husband when she meets a writer Sridhar who treats her with kindness and respect. The film brings out the conflict surrounding such relationships. Dhai Aakhar is an ode to love and the power it holds to transform someone’s life. The film highlights how abuse is common within patriarchy, so much so it is accepted and normalized within families. And how it leaves a deep shattering impact on womanhood. It delves into how love holds the power to liberate anyone who is subjugated to abuse.

Dhai Aakhar is based on the novel “Teerthatan Ke Baad” by Amrik Singh Deep. Praveen Arora was nominated for Best Debut Director at Indian Panorama – Feature Films, International Film Festival of India.
The film was shot in various locations across Uttarakhand, including Haridwar, Kankhal, Rishikesh, and Kimsaar.
Dhai Aakhar was released in theaters on 22nd November 2024.
