Storyline:
The spaceship of asteroid miner Andy gets struck, crash-landing him on an alien planet where he contends with his AI survival suit. Losing oxygen, he connects via radio with fellow crew member Naomi who, trapped inside her escape pod, guides him to search for and rescue her.

Distant is an American science fiction comedy film directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck and written by Spenser Cohen. It stars Anthony Ramos, Naomi Scott, and Zachary Quinto.
On February 21, 2019, Amblin Partners acquired Spenser Cohen’s spec script for “Distant.” Josh Gordon and Will Speck were announced as directors in August 2019, with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, and Anna Halberg producing. Anthony Ramos joined the cast in December 2019, and Naomi Scott replaced Rachel Brosnahan in August 2020.
Filming took place in Budapest, Hungary, from September 21 to November 13, 2020, under COVID-19 safety protocols. Steven Price composed the score, and Gregory Plotkin edited the film.
“Distant” has faced multiple release delays, initially set for March 11, 2022, then September 16, 2022, and January 27, 2023. It was theatrically released on July 12, 2024.
