In 1858, a bounty-hunter named King Schultz seeks out a slave named Django and buys him because he needs him to find some men he is looking for. After finding them, Django wants to find his wife, Broomhilda, who along with him were sold separately by his former owner for trying to escape. Schultz offers to help him if he chooses to stay with him and be his partner. Eventually they learn that she was sold to a plantation in Mississippi. Knowing they can’t just go in and say they want her, they come up with a plan so that the owner will welcome them into his home and they can find a way.

About Movie:

Django Unchained is an American revisionist Western film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The film stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson, with supporting roles from Walton Goggins, Dennis Christopher, James Remar, Michael Parks, and Don Johnson.

Tarantino began developing Django Unchained in 2007 while researching Italian director Sergio Corbucci. By April 2011, the final script was completed and sent to The Weinstein Company. Casting began in mid-2011, with actors like Michael K. Williams and Will Smith considered for the titular role before Jamie Foxx was cast.

Principal photography began in California in November 2011, followed by filming in Wyoming and at the Evergreen Plantation in Wallace, Louisiana. The film was shot using the anamorphic format on 35 mm film. After 130 days of shooting, production wrapped in July 2012.

The film premiered at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on December 11, 2012, and was released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012. Django Unchained grossed $426 million worldwide on a $100 million budget, becoming Tarantino’s highest-grossing film to date.

Critics praised the film, especially Waltz’s performance and Tarantino’s writing and direction. However, it sparked controversy for its graphic violence and frequent use of racial slurs. The film received five Academy Award nominations, winning two: Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor, and Tarantino won Best Original Screenplay. Waltz also won the Golden Globe and BAFTA for his role, while Tarantino won both awards for his screenplay.
