Storyline:

Big Bull, a notorious assassin, wants to achieve immortality and decides to transfer his memories to “iSmart” Shankar, who already has another’s person’s memories transferred to him, thus setting the stage for the intense confrontation between Shankar and Big Bull.

Double iSmart is a Telugu science fiction action thriller film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, who co-produced the film with Charmy Kaur under Puri Connects. The film, a sequel to iSmart Shankar (2019), stars Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt (in his Telugu debut), alongside Kavya Thapar, Bani J, Sayaji Shinde, Getup Srinu, and Ali.

The film was officially announced through a Muhurtham pooja ceremony in Hyderabad. Filming began on July 12, 2023, with the first schedule successfully concluded in Mumbai on July 31, 2023. The second schedule commenced in Thailand in August 2023.

Some sequences of the film were shot in Mumbai in May 2024, but production faced delays due to financial constraints, which were later resolved. The climax was also shot in Mumbai on a large set worth ₹8 crore, with principal photography wrapping on July 5.

Double iSmart was theatrically released on August 15, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. The film was initially scheduled to release on March 8, 2024, on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, but was later postponed.

The digital streaming rights to the film were acquired by Amazon Prime Video for ₹33 crore.

Music:

The soundtrack album and background score for the film were composed by Mani Sharma, with the audio rights acquired by Aditya Music. The first single, “SteppaMaar,” was released on July 1, 2024. The second single, “Maar Muntha Chod Chinta,” followed on July 16, 2024, and the third single, “Kya Lafda,” was released on July 29, 2024.
