Storyline:

Guru is a quiet, tough, and ruthless boy, working for a politician, Prahlad. A dark past refuses to let Guru sleep at night until he meets a girl, Aisha. He falls in love with her, his life changes and he convinces Aisha to marry him. He quits his job and moves to Mumbai in hopes of a new beginning with Aisha.

Just when things seem perfect, she falls prey to an attack. Devastated, Guru starts hunting the miscreant and is shocked to learn of his seemingly innocuous and simple identity. Something is amiss and Guru is unable to place a finger on the precise problem.

Who is the real assailant? Does Guru succeed in getting even? And what is the motive behind her killing?

Ek Villain (translated as One Villain) is a Hindi action thriller directed by Mohit Suri. The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures, with a screenplay crafted by Tushar Hiranandani and Milap Milan Zaveri. It features a prominent cast including Riteish Deshmukh, Sidharth Malhotra, and Shraddha Kapoor in leading roles.

Released worldwide on June 27, 2014, Ek Villain received favorable reviews from critics, who praised its themes, direction, and action sequences. Riteish Deshmukh’s performance as the antagonist was particularly highlighted, marking his first negative role. The film was made on a budget of ₹39 crore and emerged as a significant box-office success, grossing over ₹100 crore domestically and approximately ₹170 crore worldwide. The soundtrack, featuring popular songs like “Galliyan,” “Zaroorat,” and “Hamdard,” also contributed to the film’s acclaim.

Deshmukh and Malhotra later collaborated again in the 2019 film Marjaavaan, where Deshmukh’s character performed “Galliyan,” a song from Ek Villain. A sequel titled Ek Villain Returns, featuring John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor was released in July 2022, with Deshmukh making a brief appearance through archive footage and a mid-credits scene.
