Storyline:
For centuries, people have called out to the universe looking for answers—in Disney and Pixar’s all-new movie “Elio,” the universe calls back! The original feature film introduces Elio, an underdog with an active imagination who finds himself inadvertently beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide. About Elio Movie:
Elio is an upcoming American animated science fiction adventure comedy film written and directed by Adrian Molina. Produced by Pixar Animation Studios, the film stars the voices of Yonas Kibreab, America Ferrera, Jameela Jamil, and Brad Garrett.
Elio is Adrian Molina’s first Pixar film as the main director, following his role as co-director of Coco (2017).
It is Brad Garrett’s fifth Pixar film, following his roles in A Bug’s Life (1998), Finding Nemo (2003), Ratatouille (2007), and Finding Dory (2016). For Jameela Jamil, this marks her second animated film, after DC League of Super-Pets (2022).
The film was officially announced at the D23 Expo in September 2022, with Molina as writer/director and Drumm as producer. Kibreab and Ferrera were revealed as the lead voices, and Jamil and Garrett joined the cast in June 2023.
Elio is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on June 13, 2025, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film was originally scheduled for theatrical release on March 1, 2024, but amid the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike in October 2023, it was delayed to its current release date for undisclosed reasons.
