Storyline:
Umashankar, an assistant director, falls in love with Leo, but a misunderstanding arises when his friend Saranya gets pregnant by Prashant. Leo believes Umashankar is the cause, leading to animosity between them. The story explores whether they can resolve the conflict and find love again.
About Emakku Thozhil Romance Movie:
On 15 March 2024, the first-look poster of the Ashok Selvan starrer Emakku Thozhil Romance was unveiled by Vijay Sethupathi, Arya, and others. The poster featured Ashok Selvan alongside Avantika Mishra, known for her performance in Enna Solla Pogirai (2022). The romantic comedy is directed by debutant Balaji Kesavan and produced by M. Thirumalai, a director-turned-producer.
At the launch event, the director shared that the film’s title was inspired by Bharathiyar’s poem Emakku Thozhil Kavithai, with the word “Kavithai” replaced by “Romance” to suit the story. The film’s supporting cast includes Urvashi, M. S. Bhaskar, Azhagam Perumal, Bagavathi Perumal, Vijay Varadaraj, and Badava Gopi. The technical team features Ganesh Chandra as cinematographer, I. Jerome Alen as editor, and Nivas K. Prasanna as music composer. Principal photography was completed, and the film entered post-production at the time of the announcement.
On 23 April 2024, a teaser lasting one and a half minutes was released, highlighting the lead character navigating multiple romantic encounters.
Emakku Thozhil Romance hit theatres on 22 November 2024, following a postponement from its initial release date of 15 November 2024 due to predicted heavy rains in Tamil Nadu. The film received a U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification.
During the audio launch held on 27 July 2024 in Chennai, producer M. Thirumalai openly criticized Ashok Selvan for his lack of involvement in the film’s promotions and his absence at the event.
