Storyline:
The story follows a young farm boy named Eragon, who discovers a mysterious blue stone that hatches into a dragon, Saphira. As he learns about his destiny as a Dragon Rider, Eragon must confront the evil king Galbatorix and his forces to save his homeland from tyranny. With the help of allies like Brom (Jeremy Irons) and others, Eragon embarks on a quest filled with adventure, danger, and self-discovery.

Principal photography for Eragon took place at Mafilm Fót Studios in Hungary starting on August 1, 2005. The film features visual effects and animation by Industrial Light & Magic and Weta Digital. It was released worldwide between December 13 and December 15, 2006, by 20th Century Fox.
Reception
Eragon received widespread negative reviews from critics and fans of the book series, who criticized its acting, screenplay, visuals, and unfaithfulness to the source material. However, some reviewers praised the CGI and performances by Speleers and Irons. The film was noted as one of the worst-reviewed films of 2006 on Rotten Tomatoes but managed to gross approximately $226.4 million worldwide against a production budget of around $95 million.The film was released for home entertainment on March 20, 2007. Originally intended to be the first in a franchise based on Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle, plans for sequels were canceled following the poor critical reception and box office performance.
