About Movie:
Fifty Shades Darker is a 2017 American erotic romantic drama directed by James Foley and written by Niall Leonard, based on E. L. James’ 2012 novel. The second installment in the Fifty Shades film series and sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), it stars Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eric Johnson, Eloise Mumford, Bella Heathcote, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Kim Basinger, and Marcia Gay Harden.
Following the anticipation for the sequel after Fifty Shades of Grey, development for Fifty Shades Darker began soon after the first film’s release. By November 2015, James Foley was hired to direct, and Niall Leonard to write both sequels, which were shot back-to-back in 2016.
Principal photography took place from February 9 to April 11, 2016, in Paris and Vancouver. Danny Elfman returned to score the film, as he had done for the first installment.
The film premiered in Hamburg, Germany, on February 7, 2017, and was released in the U.S. on February 10 by Universal Pictures. Although it grossed $381 million worldwide on a $55 million budget, Fifty Shades Darker received mostly negative reviews, criticized for its screenplay, acting, and narrative, although some performances were praised.
At the 38th Golden Raspberry Awards, it was nominated for nine awards, winning two for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel, and Worst Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger.
