Hazbin Hotel is an American adult animated musical crime comedy television series created by Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano. The series stars the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, Alex Brightman, Keith David, Kimiko Glenn, Erika Henningsen, Blake Roman, and Amir Talai.

The pilot episode, released on YouTube on October 28, 2019, was made entirely by freelance animators and was mainly financed by Medrano’s Patreon followers. The pilot garnered over 1 million on YouTube within a day of its release, along with over 250k likes and less than 2k dislikes. As of May 2024, the pilot has 107 million views with over 3.4 million likes.

The first episode, Pilot, was released on YouTube in 2019 and is not considered the first episode of Season 1 or included in the Amazon Prime seasons.

The popularity and success of the pilot allowed Vivienne Medrano to create a spin-off series called Helluva Boss, which premiered on October 31, 2020. The series features a different cast of characters within the same in-universe setting.

On December 21, 2021, the official Hazbin Hotel Twitter account teased the release of the first season. On October 28, 2022, the third anniversary of the pilot’s release, a teaser trailer was released on Vivienne Medrano’s YouTube channel promising a summer 2023 release date for the first season, but this was later stalled due to the 2023 strike of actors and writers. In November 2023, it was announced that the series will premiere on January 18, 2024.

The first season premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 18, 2024, with its first episode also released on YouTube on that same day for a limited release. A second season is confirmed to be in production. It has received generally positive reviews from critics.
