About Movie:

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, released internationally as Straight From the Heart, is a Hindi romantic drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film features a star-studded cast including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai, and is based on the play Shetal ne Kathe by Rashtriyashayar Jhaverchand Meghani. It tells the poignant story of a newlywed man who learns that his wife is in love with another man and resolves to unite them. The film is also loosely inspired by Maitreyi Devi’s Bengali novel Na Hanyate, although it does not credit this source.

Filming took place across the Gujarat-Rajasthan border and in Budapest, Hungary, which was used to depict Italy. The film premiered in the Indian Panorama section at the 1999 International Film Festival of India.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was a commercial success, grossing ₹510 million (approximately US$6.1 million) and becoming one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year. It received predominantly positive reviews from critics and garnered 17 nominations at the 45th Filmfare Awards, winning 8, including Best Film, Best Director (Sanjay Leela Bhansali), and Best Actress (Aishwarya Rai). The film’s music, composed by Ismail Darbar, was also highly acclaimed, contributing to its lasting impact on Indian cinema.
