Storyline:
The film follows a cricket-obsessed deaf and mute boy from a remote Indian village as he aims to overcome difficulties to become a cricketer and fulfill his dream of playing for the Indian national cricket team.

Iqbal is a Hindi sports drama film directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and produced by Subhash Ghai under the banner of Mukta Searchlight Films. The film stars Naseeruddin Shah, Girish Karnad, Shreyas Talpade, Shweta Basu Prasad, and Yatin Karyekar.
This was Shreyas Talpade’s debut film in Bollywood.
Iqbal was screened retrospectively on August 18, 2016, at the Independence Day Film Festival jointly presented by the Indian Directorate of Film Festivals and the Ministry of Defense, commemorating the 70th Indian Independence Day.
The film received the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues. Naseeruddin Shah won the National Award for the Best Supporting Actor category for this movie.
