About King’s Game Movie:
King’s Game (also known as Kongekabale) is a Danish political thriller film directed by Nikolaj Arcel and produced by Meta Louise Foldage. The film marks the directorial debut of Nikolaj Arcel.
The film stars Anders W. Berthelsen and Nicolas Bro as reporters uncovering a Government conspiracy.
The film King’s Game is based on Niels Krause-Kjær’s novel Kongekabale, written shortly after he resigned as a spin doctor for the Conservative Party in Denmark. The novel is believed to be inspired by the power struggle within the party that occurred during his tenure.
The character of the villain in King’s Game, played by Søren Pilmark, is, according to director Nikolaj Arcel, based on Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
The film received critical acclaim and won several awards, including eight Robert Awards.
A sequel Mørkeland was released in Danish theatres on August 22, 2024.
