Storyline:
The story follows Dr. Alex Cross, who travels to Durham, North Carolina, after learning that his niece, Naomi, has gone missing. Upon arrival, he discovers that multiple young women have disappeared in the area. While investigating, Cross collaborates with local police and learns about a serial kidnapper known as “Casanova,” who has been abducting women and holding them captive.
During his investigation, Cross encounters Kate McTiernan, one of Casanova’s victims who manages to escape from captivity. After her harrowing experience, Kate joins forces with Cross to help track down the kidnapper. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a web of deceit and danger, ultimately leading to a climactic confrontation with Casanova.
