About Movie:
Lamhe is a musical romantic drama film directed and produced by Yash Chopra, with a screenplay written by Honey Irani and Rahi Masoom Raza. The film features Sridevi in a dual role as both mother and daughter, alongside Anil Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Anupam Kher, Deepak Malhotra, and Dippy Sagoo in pivotal supporting roles.
Upon its release on 30 August 1991, Lamhe received mixed reviews at the box office but gained critical acclaim for its performances, particularly Sridevi’s dual role. The film was praised for its music and cinematography but faced controversy due to its themes of inter-generational romance, which some critics perceived as having incestuous undertones.
Despite moderate domestic success, Lamhe became a major hit in overseas markets and has since been regarded as a classic in Indian cinema. It grossed approximately ₹20.5 crores against a production budget of ₹6 crores.
