• Lee Jong-suk as Ahn Joo-hyung
  A nine-year lawyer with a high level of fact-driven logic at Kyungmin Law Firm. He didn’t initially think of becoming a lawyer as a career that stands up for justice and protects the weak; instead, he chose to become a lawyer because he enjoys logic and cases. He is also an industry veteran, having spent nine years at the same firm. Even though his associate lawyer salary has reached new heights, he has no desire to open his own legal practice. However, his stable and comfortable work life starts to show signs of cracking.
• Moon Ga-young as Kang Hee-ji
  A second-year lawyer at Johwa Law Firm. She is a person who lives in the belief that “if you change one individual’s life, you changed that one individual’s world”.
• Kang You-seok as Jo Chang-won
  The talkative member of the group, who always goes out to work and hang out as if he were going to a gathering.
• Ryu Hye-young as Bae Moon-jung
  An eight-year lawyer who works at the same law firm as Joo-hyung. As the group’s leader, she is the most kind person toward others while having a harsh demeanor and an intense competitive nature that drives her to win every time.
• Im Seong-jae as Kang Sang-ki
  A good-natured individualist. He is the embodiment of capitalism, busy with work and stressed out by people, but is happy when money comes in. He runs a restaurant blog called “Lawyer’s Table” and faithfully uploads his meals at their gatherings.

Seochodong is about the five members of the “Associate Lawyers Avengers” namely Ahn Joo-hyung, Kang Hee-ji, Jo Chang-won, Bae Moon-jung, and Kang Sang-ki, who share their precious lunch breaks together and work at Seochodong Judicial Town.

Law and the City (Seochodong) is set to broadcast on tvN on July 5, 2025 and conclud on August 10, 2025, every Saturday and Sunday at 22:00 (KST).

Law and the City – Where to Watch and Stream

Law and the City (Seocho-dong) will broadcast on tvN beginning July 5, 2025. The drama will stream on services that carry tvN content (Wavve in South Korea) but it is unknown when or if there will be international streaming service availability (Netflix, Disney+, etc.). Typically, tvN dramas are available on Wavve and potentially some international service, depending on licensing arrangements.

About Law and the City TV Series

Law and the City (Korean: 서초동, also known as Seochodong) is an upcoming legal romance drama written by Lee Seung-hyun, directed by Park Seung-woo, centered on An Joo-hyeong (played by Lee Jong-suk), a senior associate lawyer known for his cold, brutally honest personality. Unlike typical idealistic lawyers, he became a lawyer because he finds logic and cases interesting, not out of a desire to protect the weak or pursue justice. Despite being competent and successful, he avoids opening his own practice, finding it troublesome.

The legal drama Law and the City (Seocho-dong) is helmed by Park Seung-woo, and was written by Lee Seung-hyun, herself a practicing lawyer. CJ ENM Studios are planning it, and Chorokbaem Media’s Yang Ha-joon is producing it.

In hosting their dispatch exchange on 9/7, or September 7th, a few publications in that month began circulating news that Lee Jong-suk was said to be starring in Park Seung-woo’s new drama; this is their first listing together since W (2016) some eight years ago. One month later, and in addition to Lee Jong-suk’s formal announcement, Moon Ga-young’s agency was publicly quoting that Moon Ga-young received an offer and was ‘positively’ reviewing it.

On November 5 Lee Jong-suk was formally announced as part of the series. Shortly, Osen reported that Ryu Hye-young was to also join the cast on November 15. If we skip ahead to November 19, Moon Ga-young was confirmed as the femaling lead and the Day 20 report listed Kang You-seok as a participating actor. And finally, on November 28, the main cast was already revealed from start to finish will be Lee Jong-suk, Moon Ga-young, Kang You-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Im Seong-jae.

Main photography scheduled for late 2024, with the overall awarded temporal structure looking to be 2025 on tvN.
