Storyline:

Dashrath Manjhi, a poor man from the lowest caste, lived in a remote village blocked by a rocky mountain range. His wife Phaguniya, whom he deeply loved, tragically died when she fell while climbing the mountain to bring him food. Devastated, Dashrath resolved to carve a path through the mountain to prevent such tragedies. For 22 years, using only a hammer and chisel, he tirelessly worked until a path was finally carved out.

Manjhi: The Mountain Man is a Hindi biographical drama film, about the life story of Dashrath Manjhi, a man who spent twenty-two years carving a road through a treacherous mountain using only a hammer and chisel.

The film was directed by Ketan Mehta, who co-wrote it with Anjum Rajabali, Mahendra Jhakar, Varadraj Swami, and Shahzad Ahemad. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Dashrath Manjhi along with Radhika Apte, Urmila Mahanta, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Gaurav Dwivedi.

The film was shot in Bihar, India.

Manjhi: The Mountain Man was released worldwide on August 21, 2015. The film received positive reviews from critics.

Before its release preview copy of the film was illegally leaked onto various peer-to-peer sharing sites on August 10, 2015. The Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) cyber police station had registered a case against a few accused of leaking the movie. The Bihar State Government declared the film tax-free on July 30, 2015.
