Filming began on 7 February 2022 in Margate on the Isle of Thanet, Kent. It premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on 3 September 2022, and was theatrically released in the United States on 9 December 2022, and in the United Kingdom on 13 January 2023, by Searchlight Pictures. The film received mixed reviews from critics, while Colman’s performance received large praise with some critics calling it her best performance to date.
