Viduthalai marketed as Viduthalai Part 1, is a Tamil crime action thriller film, that stars Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Prakash Raj. The film is adapted from the short story Thunaivan written by B. Jeyamohan.

The film is co-written and directed by Vetrimaaran and produced by Elred Kumar under the banners of RS Infotainment. The film’s music is composed by Ilaiyaraaja, while R. Velraj served as the cinematographer, and Ramar has done the editing.

Originally the film is intended as a single film but it was later split into two parts. The producer of this film Elred Kumar plans to release Viduthalai Part 1 in Tamil Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. Viduthalai Part 1 was released in Indian cinemas on 31 March 2023 by Red Giant Movies.

Kumaresan (Soori), a police constable gets recruited for “Operation Ghosthunt”, which is implanted to capture Perumal “Vaathiyar” (Vijay Sethupathi), who leads a separatist group “People’s Army” which are highly dedicated to fighting against the authorities for commiting atrocities against innocent village women in the name of police interrogations.
