Storyline:

Zu is newly sober and finding her way in the world when she receives news that she is to become the sole guardian of her half-sister named Music, a young girl on the autism spectrum. The film explores two of Sia’s favorite themes — finding your voice and what it means to create family.

About Movie:

Music is an American musical drama directed by singer-songwriter Sia in her feature film directorial debut. Co-written by Sia and Dallas Clayton, the film stars Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr., and Maddie Ziegler.

The film, initially conceived as a non-musical project, transformed into a musical with a larger budget. Filming took place in mid-2017, and Sia released a studio album alongside the film, featuring 10 original songs.

Released in Australia on January 14, 2021, and in the U.S. on February 10, 2021, Music was a commercial failure, earning just $645,949 against its $16 million budget. The film faced widespread criticism for its portrayal of autism, despite being nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actress (Hudson) at the Golden Globe Awards. It was also nominated for four Golden Raspberry Awards, winning Worst Actress for Hudson, Worst Supporting Actress for Ziegler, and Worst Director for Sia.
