Storyline:

The story follows Shabana Khan (Taapsee Pannu), a college student and martial artist living in Mumbai. After a tragic incident where her boyfriend Jai (Taher Shabbir) is killed by a group of men while trying to defend her, Shabana seeks justice but finds herself frustrated with the police’s inaction. She receives a call from a mysterious man, Ranveer Singh (Manoj Bajpayee), who offers to help her track down Jai’s killers but asks for her assistance in return.

Shabana agrees and undergoes rigorous training to become an undercover agent for the Indian Intelligence Agency. Her mission leads her to Malaysia, where she must eliminate a dangerous arms dealer named Tony (Prithviraj Sukumaran). The film showcases her transformation from a victim seeking revenge to a skilled operative tasked with a critical mission.

Naam Shabana is a Hindi action thriller directed by Shivam Nair and written by Neeraj Pandey. It serves as a prequel to the 2015 film Baby, with Taapsee Pannu reprising her role as Shabana Khan. The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Manoj Bajpayee, and features Akshay Kumar, Madhurima Tuli, Elli Avram, Anupam Kher, and Danny Denzongpa in special appearances.

Naam Shabana received mixed reviews from critics. While many praised Taapsee Pannu’s performance and the film’s action sequences, some felt that the narrative didn’t match the intensity of Baby. The film was noted for its themes of empowerment and resilience but criticized for pacing issues and an oversimplified plot.

Despite the mixed reviews, Naam Shabana was commercially successful, grossing approximately ₹57 crores at the box office. It was also banned in Pakistan shortly after its release.
