Storyline:

“Peter Pan & Wendy” introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.

Peter Pan & Wendy is an American fantasy adventure film directed by David Lowery from a screenplay he co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks.

The film is a live-action remake of Walt Disney’s 1953 animated feature film Peter Pan, in turn, based on the 1904 play Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up (also known as Peter and Wendy) by J. M. Barrie.

Development on a live-action Peter Pan film began on April 13, 2016, with Lowery directing. Lowery was announced as writing the film with Halbrooks, while the production team expanded the next four years due to work in the remake’s script. The film’s title was announced on January 7, 2020.

Production for Peter Pan & Wendy took place in Vancouver, British Columbia. Filming began on March 16, 2021. Additional filming took place on the Bonavista Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, in August 2021. Scenes were also filmed in the Faroe Islands. Reshoots took place in Vancouver, from February 2 to 8, 2022.

This film marks the acting debut of Alexander Molony.

On July 31, 2018, it was announced that Peter Pan & Wendy (2023) may air on Disney+ instead of getting a theatrical release.

Jude Law gave ice cream to all of the children who starred in the film on the final day of shooting as an apology for scaring many of them while portraying Captain Hook in costume.

Will Smith, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jim Carrey were considered for the role of Captain Hook.

This is David Lowery’s second Disney live-action remake after Pete’s Dragon (2016).

Described by David Lowery as his favorite movie he’s ever made, as well as his “most personal” and “most adult”.

Peter Pan & Wendy premiered on Disney+ on April 28, 2023. The film received mixed reviews from critics.
